Lord Chelmsford invaded Zululand without the knowledge of the British Government in the hope that he could Capture Cetshwayo, the Zulu King, before London discovered that hostilities had begun.

Hi Littlehand

My knowledge of buttons is very limited, but that button looks like a General Service Button 1900 +
I could be totally incorrect, someone on the forum might know.

My understanding (just having a repro coat made) is that the general service button was used by other ranks and regimental insignia buttons by officers and NCOs . Not totality sure but is the crown on the coat of arms a "kings crown" and not a queens crown for Victoria?
